Trauma, adverse childhood experiences and spiritual disconnection are at the root of our mental health struggles. Our licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) works with meditation, spirituality and plant medicine to peel away the layers of accumulated defense mechanisms, shame, fear and institutional programming to connect patients with their true self, so they can live an authentic and meaning-filled life. Meet our Practitioner
Michelle VanderJagt, LMFT Michelle has been exploring the intersection of spirituality and psychology for 30+ years. She completed her graduate degree at Western Michigan University, where she had the opportunity to work with an innovative residential Trauma program. For 10 years post-graduation Michelle worked in an inpatient psychiatric unit in the Bay Area and fell in love with Lake Tahoe. This experience held so many valuable lessons, but the most enduring would be that we all need deep connection and that the process of connecting to another is incredibly healing. She also observed that our current system of diagnosing and medicating does not offer a complete picture of human emotional suffering. Trauma, adverse childhood experiences and spiritual disconnection are at the root of our mental health struggles. Post-licensure, she has been studying meditation, spirituality and plant medicine. In addition to individual and couples therapy, Michelle offers spiritual coaching sessions where you can work to deepen your connection and develop your own unique practice.
