Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a psychotherapy that uses rhythmic left-right (bilateral) stimulation to help people recover from psychological problems. Bilateral stimulation, along with focusing on the traumatic memory or experience, reduces the memory's emotional and somatic impact over time. EMDR Therapy can help with trauma (i.e., injuries, abuse, combat, assault, drug addiction, etc.), depression, anxiety, phobias, grief, recurrent nightmares, loss of relationships (including divorce), jealousy, envy, sexual inhibition, and a variety of self-sabotage and self-esteem issues.
